Andrea Fluegel

I am excited to serve RLC as the Director of LIFE Ministry. Since the first moment I walked through the doors of Roseville Lutheran on Good Friday 2000, when I applied for the Desktop Publisher/Administrative Assistant position, I have seen how the Holy Spirit has been working in my life. A year later, at the Easter Vigil worship on April 14, 2001, I was baptized. Since then I have participated and served in many of the ministries at RLC, and served as the pastoral administrator. Three years ago, I began attending Luther Seminary and am currently in the Masters of Divinity program in order to be called as an ordained pastor. My passion is to share the good news of grace, love and forgiveness that Jesus Christ gives us with people in all stages of life’s journey – those grieving or suffering, those who have yet to hear, and those who are questioning what all of this means. I am thankful to the RLC community for the relationships that you have given me that have deepened my own relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Thank you.

I called Bloomington-Normal, Illinois my home, until my parents (tired of the cold and snowy winters) moved our family in a blizzard to Tucson, Arizona. I graduated from Tucson High School (the scene of the movie “Can’t Buy Me Love” starring Patrick Dempsey), and then attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois (last remaining site of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates). I received my Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and studied abroad in Harare, Zimbabwe. While at college, I met my husband Erik and later moved to his hometown of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where we now reside with our three children, Alex, Natalie, and Nicholas. Before working at RLC, I worked for a U.S. Senator, with the Minnesota Senate, and with a trade association. Our family enjoys backpacking, canoeing, camping and snowshoeing. We love to volunteer at Wild River State Park and on the Superior Hiking Trail, doing prairie care and trail maintenance, respectively.

I am excited about all the opportunities this year to meet new people and reconnect with others. In the busyness of life, it gets more difficult to nurture relationships in our church, with our neighbors, in our family, and most importantly, with God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
