Tyler Moe-Slepica

My name is Tyler Moe-Slepica and I count myself lucky enough to be a member of your youth ministry staff as the Director of 5th & 6th Grade Ministry. I have been serving here at Roseville Lutheran since September of 2010 when I took on this brand new program geared just for our 10-12 year old youth. I originally hail from the iron range community of Crosby-Ironton, MN where I grew up as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. I graduated from my dear alma-mater Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 2008 with a degree in Communication and minors in Religion and Scandinavian Studies/Norwegian (yes they all serve rather useful working with Lutherans). I love to be out in God’s creation and can’t get enough of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In addition to having a passion for paddling a canoe, I play rugby, sing in choir when I’m able, photograph stuff, chat with folks about faith, travel, camp, volunteer, drink coffee, grow my beard, read good books, listen to quality music, and spend as much time with my mates as possible.

My calling to serve in a ministry setting began in high school when I was elected to the NE-MN Synod ELCA Lutheran Youth Organization and was part of a team that organized our middle and high school gatherings. In LYO, I was amazed by what we could do and be together as young Christians in the world and it inspired me to dig deeper. I spent all or part of 6 summers working for RLC’s partner in outdoor ministry, Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry in northern Minnesota (where I met my dear friends Megan Moroff and Neal Cannon) and experienced an even deeper sense of call there. Then in 2008 I spent a year as a mission volunteer in Manchester, England as a part of the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program. During my year with YAGM I grew a heart not only for service but for those that think, speak, and worship differently than me. So in my role as one of your youth directors, I am continually striving to challenge our kids to think outside of the box with their faith and to look for opportunities to share God’s grace in our community. My passion for people, the Lutheran Church, and social justice, motivates me to live a life of service and love to my neighbour! Soli Deo Gloria
