Faith Partners is a ministry designed primarily for members of Roseville Lutheran Church and led by volunteers and pastoral staff. It was created in 2006, based on the need for addiction and recovery information and assistance to people in our midst. Our program is part of a national effort underway in more than 100 places of worship.
Our Vision
Faith Partners Ministry is be a nonjudgmental, safe, caring and confidential place for all those affected by addiction.
Our Mission
Faith Partners Ministry offers education, referral and support to anyone who wants to learn about or is affected by substance abuse, addictions and family stressors.
- ADDICTION is a destructive relationship with a substance, activity or person.
- RECOVERY is a life-long journey and not a quick fix, requiring, with God’s help, a strong personal commitment and daily effort.
Ministry Programs
This ministry will plan and conduct a number of programs and activities as well as provide educational, informational and support resources to deal with addiction and recovery. A few of these include a congregational survey, Recovery Sunday, informational resources displayed at the church and programs directed at youth and other members of our congregation.
Support
The pastoral staff of Roseville Lutheran Church and lay members of Faith Partners are available for one-on-one information and support in a safe, private atmosphere.
The 12 Steps
Study of the twelve steps is essential to progress in any recovery program.
- We admitted we were powerless over addiction—that our lives had become unmanageable.
- Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
- Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him.
- Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
- Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs .
- Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
- Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
- Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
- Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
- Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
- Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
- Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all of our affairs.
