Roseville Lutheran Church (RLC) is a tithing congregation committed to local and global outreach. 10% of general giving is designated for Mission and Outreach as Roseville Lutherans First Fruit Giving. The largest portion is dedicated to our Foreign Missionary. RLC currently supports Pastor Dana Nelson in Lima, Peru.
Roseville Lutheran maintains relationships with organizations that help the homeless and those in need in our community. Our shelter ministry involves donations and volunteering at Union Gospel Mission, Dwelling Place, and The Family Place.
RLC’s Food Ministry includes three food drives. These are during Thanksgiving, the Souper Bowl Soup Drive in January, and the Mountain of Love during Minnesota Foodshare Month each March. The food and financial support from these drives supports our local food shelf – Keystone Community Foodshelf.
Members of Roseville participate each month with Loaves and Fishes. On the second Monday of each month, members cook and serve meals to the homeless at the Dorothy Day Center in downtown St. Paul. Through Mission and Outreach gifts, RLC provides financial for all the food for Loaves and Fishes and our local Meals on Wheels program.
Locally, cross cultural ministries include Southeast Asian Ministries, Plymouth Christian Youth Center in North Minneapolis, and the Chinese Hospitality Center in St. Paul.
Spreading the Word of God locally includes the support for the Pastoral Ministry at Lyngblomsten and the St. Paul Area Synod.
Our local education programs include RLC Nursery School, the Banyan Community in the East Phillips neighborhood, RLC members attending Seminary, and scholarship support for foreign students at Luther Seminary.
Our Global Ministry has focused on Slovakia and Tanzania. Each year, members of RLC travel to Slovakia as part of the Builders Group, Conversational English, or vacation Bible school. Through our partnership with St. Andrew’s of Mahtomedi, RLC continues to support the Bible School in Martin, Slovakia and the Martin Lutheran Elementary School.
In Tanzania, RLC has a companion congregation with whom we partner to build preaching posts and scholarships for secondary school education. Through Operation Bootstrap Africa, we continue our support for the Maasae Lutheran Girls for secondary education. At Tumaini University, RLC provides scholarships to train pastors.
Health Ministries involves support for Global Health Ministries whose mission is to “continue the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by enhancing health care programs of Lutheran churches in other countries.” RLC also supports two Hospitals in Tanzania. The Illula Hospital in Iringa, which is closest to our companion congregation; and Selian Hospital in Arusha.
Yours in Christ,
