Worship Theme: This weekend we will be celebrating what God is doing through youth and outdoor ministry at RLC. As we lift up our theme of “IDentity,” we will hear the stories of how being out in the vast beauty of God’s creation connects us to God.

In this unique setting, we are more deeply connected to each other in relationships that shape our lives forever.

Our non-traditional worship setting is to help us imagine the smoke of the campfire, the beauty of the starry skies, the lapping of the waves and the laughter of good friends in Christ. We thank all those who support the youth ministry of Roseville Lutheran Church. The prayers, the gift of time and financial support make a difference in how we Connect! Grow! Serve! & Go! in youth and family ministry. The response of the congregation is fantastic.

On February 5 please bring any of these items:

• Kitchen towels
• Bath towels
• Wooden Spoons
• Spatulas
• Hand can openers

Everyone is invited to the Activity Center during the 10:10 hour, to wrap bundles of towels and kitchen utensils that will be sent to the Bridging warehouse in Roseville.  Bridging will distribute the gifts from RLC to people in need of these household items when they come to Bridging.

Bridging is a non-profit 501(c)(3), operating 58,000 square feet of warehouse in Bloomington and Roseville and provides service to a 24 county area.  Bridging serves approximately 115 households a week and operates with a small paid staff of employees. We rely upon over 7,000 individual and group volunteers who donate over 88,000 hours annually.

Bridging is environmentally friendly, recycling over 110,000 items annually. This year, we will give away more than $11 million in merchandise based on IRS fair market value. Each household receives an average of $2,000 in furniture and household goods during their visit. In order to adequately meet the needs of our clients, we need 12 semi-loads of furniture and housewares donated each week.

1. How the Trinity is identified, prayed to and preached in sacred worship
2. Special contributions from Lutheran theology

Steven Paulson joined the Luther Seminary faculty as associate professor of systematic theology in the fall of 1998 after serving as assistant professor of religion at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., where he had been since 1993.
He was pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Washington Island, Wis., from 1990 to 1993. His experience also includes two years of work as a research librarian at JKM Library in Chicago and five years as a psychiatric counselor at Fairview Hospitals in Minneapolis.

Paulson is a Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., and earned the master of divinity degree from Luther Seminary in 1984. He holds both the master of theology (1988) and doctor of theology (1992) degrees from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.

He has been honored with the Goethe Institute Scholarship (1985) and the North American Ministerial Fellowship (1980-84).

Paulson currently serves on the editorial boards of Word and World and both the Lutheran Quarterly and Dialog and has written articles for both journals. He is the author of Luther for Armchair Theologians and editor of A More Radical Gospel, The Captivation of the Will, and The Preached God all written by Gerhard Forde.

The time is rapidly approaching for the Super Bowl. But while we are planning parties and all the food we are going to consume during the commercials, what about those who are in need. Many families in our community are struggling with hunger due to the increasing costs of in heating, gas, and basic essentials. The Mission and Outreach Team with Youth Ministries are supporting the RLC Souper Bowl of Caring.

We will be collecting cans and cases of soup throughout January till Super Bowl Sunday on February 5th. Your donations will be sent to our local food shelf – Keystone Community Food Shelf. Please take this opportunity to help those less fortunate in our community by participating in the RLC Souper Bowl of Caring.
