COUNCIL CANDIDATES

Mike Dolan – Council Vice President Candidate
Member for: 8 years.
Past participant of: Cub Scout leader, usher at 11 am service, small group discussion facilitator, Confirmation small group leader, Endowment committee member, Co-chair of Senior Pastor Call committee, strategic planning committee.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: My prayer is for continued, vibrant growth in our congregation, where members play an active role in our church and shared faith.  I pray we can share our love of God within our congregation and further express love of our neighbors in the community.

Tom Lund – Council Candidate
Member for: 43 years.
Past participant of: Church council, RLC Foundation, personnel committee, adult education committee, building committee, confirmation teacher, dramatic productions and musicals, madrigal dinners, Reformation Renaissance Festivals,  Christian education workshops, Sunday School dramas, senior choir, daily devotion author.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: I would like RLC to become known as a welcoming environment for anyone looking for a church home.  I would like to see a congregation whose members not only attend worship services but are enthusiastically engaged in church activities.  I would like us to grow not only in numbers but also in our humanity.

Jessica Henry – Council Candidate
Member for: 30 years.
Past participant of: I grew up at Roseville Lutheran Church; I enjoyed participating in youth ministry activities, as well as ski trips and BWCA adventures as a student. The summer after I graduated from high school, I worked in the church office, and I returned to work three more summers during college - it was a great opportunity to get to know members of the congregation and to be immersed in different ministry areas, such as pastoral administration, life and end of life ministries, and worship planning ministries. I moved back to Roseville after college and led the Youth and Family Ministry Team for two years. Today, I am a confirmation small group leader, a chaperone for occasional youth retreats/trips, a member of RLC’s Brass Choir, and a RLC Wedding Coordinator.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: My hope for our faith community at RLC is that we continue to grow in our relationships with one another and become an even more vibrant and welcoming place for all people who seek to know God.

Beth Jacobson – Council Candidate
Member for: 15 years.
Past participant of: In the past, I’ve participated in the Library Task Force and Library Committee. Currently I’m on an Usher Team, and on the 75th Anniversary Planning Committee. I’ve also ventured into Bible Studies on Wednesday or Sunday mornings and appreciate the time for learning. I’ve enjoyed other activities or opportunities to serve when able, but some definite highlights were helping with a skit for VBS and Life Ministry’s bowling & pizza event.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: What I enjoy most about RLC is that I never know what kind of joy-filled encounter one might have, whether it’s working alongside a committee member midweek, meeting parents of our youth during coffee hour, or a spontaneous conversation with a brilliant 5th grader. This gives me hope for RLC’s continued meaning in the lives of members and the local and global community. I hope to see RLC continue to grow in transformational giving and gratitude and anticipate what spiritual direction God is leading us, be it to strengthen our current ministries and/or find bold ways to bridge our ministry gaps to serve all.

ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE CANDIDATES

KJ Bach – Endowment Committee Candidate
Member for: 41 years.
Past participant of: I have been very fortunate to have served in many aspects of church life at RLC, including Church Council, Congregational President (2001-02), Music Ministry, Altar Guild, Vision Slovakia Builders Group Trip Leader, Communion Server & Facilities Planning Committee(for 1996 Worship Center), and most recently the 75th Anniversary Steering Committee.  With every opportunity to serve I make new friends who broaden my view of my church, my community and the world.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: God gives each of us so many blessings in our lives. I see RLC continuing to grow the opportunities and provide encouragement to all who come through its doors to share their time, treasures and talents with others within our church and our community. This needs to be a key component to living life in a church community and beyond. I want others to have the same ‘family feeling’ that I have received through my many years at RLC. It is often said ‘the more I give, the more I receive’ and within RLC that is most certainly true!

Julie Cannon – Endowment Committee Candidate
Member for: 4 years.
Past participant of: I have helped with some of the administrative duties for the ShopWithScrip youth fundraiser program.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: My hope for RLC is that the youth program can stay strong and provide a place for teenagers that feels welcoming to all.

Tricia Smedsrud – Endowment Committee Candidate
Member for: 20 years.
Past participant of: I am currently on the Youth & Family team and have been a Luther League leader in the past. I’ve enjoyed volunteering at RLC in other ways along with experiencing all that RLC has had to offer my children over the years with amazing children and youth programs.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: RLC has great leaders, staff and members.  I look forward to continue to be a part of the RLC community and serving our wonderful God.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE CANDIDATES

Kevin Hansen – Nominating Committee Candidate
Member for: 10 years.
Past participant of: I have been a member of 3 different men’s groups, was a Cornerstone Shepard for 5 years, and just completed my first year as a Confirmation leader.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: Quite simply, my hope for Roseville Lutheran is that it is a place that leads people into a growing relationship with Christ. It doesn’t matter whether we are just becoming familiar with Jesus or if we have been life-long members of a church or somewhere in between, the Church should be a place that provides opportunities for everyone, no matter where we are in our faith walk.

Winslow Grandstand – Nominating Committee Candidate
Member for: 7 years.
Past participant of: My various volunteer positions at a previous church was 2 years as the council chairman, 15 years as the church treasurer, 5 years heading various church committees’, and the most pleasurable was serving soup suppers during Lent.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: I perceive RLC as a place for me to meet my spiritual needs, a church that works to train our young people how to live a Christian life and to provide them with experiences and opportunities to develop Christian friends and experiences. Also, a place for the rest of us to support these young people, to support all our members in developing strong Christian lives and provide us with support as needs arise.  And a place to develop friends.

Nick Boulton – Nominating Committee Candidate
Member for: 3 years.
Past participant of: Cornerstone and children's programs
Hopes and dreams:
Expanding growth in the community, sharing of faith, and continuing the supportive congregation that currently exists.

YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY CANDIDATE

Lillian Eldred – Youth and Family Chair Candidate
Member for: 21 years.
Past participant of:  As a youth, I was involved in most anything I could be at RLC: Sunday School/Cornerstone, youth and festival choirs, first communion and confirmation. I went on weekend retreats like the Construction Zone and the Youth Quake. When I was old enough, I was a junior leader at those events. I went to Camp Hiawatha. I went on several high school BWCA trips. I attended Bagels at Dawn and Salt Co/Flock. As an adult, I have chaperoned two high school BWCA trips. I chaperoned the Slovakia Mission Trip in 2016. I plan to chaperone the Idaho Mission Trip this upcoming summer. I have completed my 5th year as a Confirmation small group leader. I served on Pastor Lauren’s Call Committee. I am a member of the Youth and Family Team. I am a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. I help to serve communion and other tasks around church when asked. My fiancé and I are planning to get married at RLC in June, 2018.
Hopes and dreams for RLC: I see God leading our congregation toward being a safe and welcoming community in which many people in our neighborhood and beyond join together in worship, learning, and fellowship.
