Matthew 7:21-29

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”  

The story of the wise man and the foolish man is a simple one.  One built his house on the rock, the other in the sand. When the rains came, which house stood firm?  The one built on the rock. It is a story many know from childhood. There is even a song about it. But what does it mean for us today?  

Trusting and making God your priority is building a strong foundation.  Treating others with kindness and respect, just as we want to be treated is following Jesus example. Showing others kindness, even if they are different than we are, is what Jesus expects of us.  All of these things build a foundation strong in faith, hard to shatter when the storms in life come. Our days will not always be easy, but God promises to be with us through the rough patches as well as the peaceful ones!

• What can you do today that will help you to grow in your faith?

• How can you show Jesus love to someone else today?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for always loving me. Help me to live a life that honors you and shows your love to others. Help me to trust you and grow in faith so I have a strong foundation. Amen
