NO, MORE WINDOWS?  Or “NO MORE WINDOWS!”

The day started with breakfast delayed till 9am unbeknownst to us who tho’t breakfast was be 7:30am.  In true Builders Group form, we just went to the School to restart our window project, without coffee or juice to wake us up.  Out came the tables, the windows, the paint, the razor scrapers, AND even the window washing bottles! By the time we got word that breakfast was at 9am, we were well into our work, but many of us decided to take time to go back to the MartInn to indulge in breakfast.  A few teachers showed up today to work on the playground, along with Rich W for an hour. The rest of us persevered in getting the windows completed. Dušan Hasko was in charge of making us lunch today….. Hotdogs! We were suppose to only work until 1pm today, but we all decided to push on after lunch and COMPLETE the Window painting project.  At about 2:30pm we were hanging the last window!! After a bit of cleanup and the group picture with the last window, we all were feeling good about our efforts. We exceeded expectations by painting 11 small bathroom windows AND WASHING them (didn’t look to have been washed for years!).

After lunch, there was a bit of ‘scope creep’ in that the trees in the courtyard between the church and the parsonage and Bible School were in need of a little pruning.  A couple of years of growth from previous branch trimming needed to be cut off. With axe and utility knife and ladder, the trees got a little ‘hair cut’. That should make for a neat courtyard for the many guests that will be here in late June.

Here’s another ‘God Story’ as mentioned back on Tuesday’s BLOG entry:

We saw last Sunday that the green benches in front of the Bible School had broken boards.  We talked with Janka about us working on repairing them. But Pastor Milán had already gotten someone else to work on the benches.  Two days ago, KJ and Bob met up with their friend, René Galganak, whom they met 4 years ago, and they mentioned the benches to him. He then told us HE had talked with Pastor Milán about him repairing the benches.  But René didn’t have time to put the new wood on the benches as he was leaving Martin for his job this coming Friday. We offered to put them together for him. He was quite happy to know the Builders Group could help.  However, today the teachers came to work, and THEY took apart the benches, sanded/painted the wrought iron bench ends. So, the benches will be repaired in time for the June Celebration! Amazing how God works through each of us in different ways to accomplish His work.

Our efforts on the windows were taking a toll on a most of us.  Leaning over tables for hours sanding, glazing, painting, scraping and washing made for sore fingers/hands, feet and legs.  Ladder work is the worst for one’s legs which Bob, Cheryl and KJ did most of. With sore necks, sore legs and a migrane headache, the 3pm completion was a welcome relief for all of us.

Lord, we give thanks to You for keeping us safe throughout the week.  We ask that You continue to guide us and care for us as we spend the next 4 days in Martin doing more project work and continuing to nurture our relationships with our Slovak sisters and brothers.
