At the Heart of Blessing: Beatitudes and Hope for Everyday Living

Summer Sermon Series 2022

Throughout the summer season we will be focusing on the Beatitudes found in Mark 5. As we gather this season we invite you to participate in our “Cross of Blessings”. 

Even if you are not able to join us in worship each Sunday, you are invited to participate throughout the series whenever you are able. Markers and ribbons are provided for you. You can either tie the ribbon onto the cross in the commons, or place it in the basket and we will place it for you. 

Participants are invited to write their responses to the following prompts on ribbons throughout the summer months:

June 12, 2022 

Jesus taught us blessings

Write the word “blessings” on a ribbon

June 19, 2022 

Blessed are the poor in spirit

Reflect on a time you have felt sadness or defeat. Write this time or event on a ribbon

June 26, 2022

Blessed are those who mourn

Reflect on a person you mourn. Write their name on a ribbon. 

July 3, 2022

Blessed are the meek

Reflect on a trait that you think defines humility or a time in which you received or exhibited humility. Write this trait or time on a ribbon. 

July 10, 2022

Blessed are those who hunger

Reflect on something you “hunger” for. Write this on a ribbon.

July 17, 2022

Blessed are the merciful

Reflect on someone who has shown you mercy. Write their name on a ribbon.

July 24, 2022

Blessed are the pure in heart

Reflect on the name of someone who has shown you the love of God. Write their name on a ribbon. 

August 7, 2022

Blessed are the persecuted

Reflect on a situation or place where you have felt pain. Write this time on a ribbon.

August 14, 2022

Blessed are those who revile you

Reflect on a person who you wish to forgive. Write their name on a ribbon

August 21, 2022

Blessed be the salt of the earth

Reflect on a gift or personal trait that you have that can bring more “flavor” to the world. Write this gift or personal trait on a ribbon.

Blessed to be the light of the world

Reflect on a place or situation where you pray the light of Christ will shine. Write this place or situation on a ribbon.
