WE LOVE WINDOWS!!!
The ‘Lucky 13’ all came to work today… even ‘Flat Dave & Vicky’, and our ‘mascot’ Flat Bev’, too. You’ll see them in a few of the pictures throughout this BLOG. The project cranked up in earnest about 8:30am as we unloaded the windows from the Bible School building back out to the yard and onto the the tables. Once again, there were ‘stations’ where workers did a task. Broken windows are being removed, and de-glazed. (Glazing in Slovak = Git (pronounced ‘geet’)). Now just need Jaro to get us new glass and new glazing points. This afternoon’s answer on when the glass and glazing points would show up… yup, you guessed it…. Zajtra (Tomorrow)!. We will continue the window project tomorrow with hopes of getting close to finished, including the replacement glas. Jeff and Bob ‘de-glazed windows, Cheryl and Jeff did the glazing, Mark and Corrine and Erik were sanders, Julie, Mary, Jan got to do the painting. KJ did the ladder work today to clean and paint the window frames on the building, as did Cheryl later in the day. Rich was the ‘utility player’ doing a number of odd jobs. It’s just amazing to see how everyone finds a job to do.
We were interviewed and filmed by a local TV station today. When asked why do we come here… KJ’s response was simple and to the point… to spread God’s Love and the Good News of Christ with our Slovak brothers and sisters so that they then can spread the love. Julie, Bob, Mark, and Corrine were also interviewed. We’ll have to wait to see who makes the final cut. Bohdan had called them to give the school a bit more publicity for their 20th Anniversary.
Wait till you see what we got for lunch dessert today… Knedľa (steamed bread) with chocolate inside and a butter sauce. Oh My Gosh! What a delicacy that we certainly didn’t NEED. However, with another 3+ hrs to be on our feet, we’ll need the energy.
Jeff was asked by Adrian to play trombone in a Slovak brass quartet. Jeff said ‘SURE, but you’ll need to find me a trombone’! And sure enough, a trombone was found. Jeff rehearsed with them this afternoon. Guess they will rehearse again next Tuesday. Jeff now wants to compose/arrange music for the group for Christmas! Amazing that God brings Jeff to Slovakia, finds a trombone, and then Jeff ends up being the arranger of music for the group. We have an AWESOME GOD!!
There will be yet another ‘God Story’ in the days ahead if all the ‘moving parts’ all come together. Stay tuned.
God, Grant that our actions speak louder than our words!
