I have been to Martin on the first trip and several times since which presents the opportunity for me to witness the growth of the C.C.E. from the beginning. We have always gone there and reflected that while we went there “to give of our time and treasure”, we came away feeling we got more than we gave. Still very true! But, this time we came away satisfied with the work done but, impressed, awed, motivated and energized from the commitment of these people to the cause. Hours “at work” are meaningless as they work and share nonstop. Personal financial gain does not seem to enter the picture but their motivation is to make this Christian school a success and to fulfill God’s plan from 1929 when Pastor Hrobon envisioned the church having a school. This has been a fulfillment of God’s plan now happening. It was a pleasure for my wife and I to once again be part of that plan.

My husband Jim Roth and I were the first-timers of our group. It was a great experience for us.. We worked hard on our projects, but the real experience was seeing the development of a sense of Christian community in the city of Martin through the school. That is something we just take for granted in the U.S. It was demonstrated on our Sat. Joint workday with parents and students when well over 100 people got involved in the school work projects and shared a wonderful lunch. The first time they tried this, only about 10 adults showed up. We now have a pen pal, a 14 year-old boy wanting to practice his English. Any teenagers out there who would like to exchange letters with him?
