LET THE WORK BEGIN….
Ok… it’s our first work day…and WE WERE READY TO ROCK’N’ROLL!!! After breakfast and a tour of a few of the classrooms (with students) we dawned our workgloves and wash buckets to our assigned projects. (before breakfast the barbed wire removal project was completed…in about 10 minutes!)

1) Clean and re-assemble the kindergarten rooms from a weekend of new window installation
2) Strap, brush and powerwash the cement fence behind the church
3) Remove furniture and carpet from the offices

The kindergarten was not in session today in order to clean the rooms and put all the furniture back from a complete round the floor window install from the weekend. It HAD TO GET DONE TODAY!! With 5 teachers and 6 Builders Group Team members and 2 custodians the work was done by 2:30pm to the point where only the teachers needed to put away all the toys and supplies. They were DONE by 4:15pm!!! The teachers were THRILLED that they didn’t need to work to midnight to get the kindergarten rooms ready for tomorrow’s classes. Jim, Tana, Mary, Kathy, Linda, & KJ were then sent to the ‘bus stop’ for a rest and re-assignment!! MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!!

Looking at a 100 year old fence that was overgrown with moss and lichens on the cement base, it seemed like a daunting task, but with the ‘right tools’ and perseverance, Bob, Rich and Vicky ‘powered through most of this project. The need for a longer water hose pre-empted the finish. “The supplies will be on the truck TOMORROW!”

Now… the biggest project… renovating the CCE offices was an amazing transformation in just 4 hours of work. In 4 of the 5 rooms all the furniture was removed, shelves removed from the walls, holes were patched, and carpet removed. The last room was still being cleaned and sorted by Ado and Tomáš from their books and papers but they are well on their way. Don, Marge, Dave, David, Steve, & Julie danced through the furniture de-install with grace and tenacity. They so want to paint those ugly walls and ceilings!!! GET ‘ER DONE, FOLKS!!!

We were all so amazed to see the classrooms ‘in session and in working order’. All the various projects that previous Builders Groups have participated in continue to be noticed and sited by those of us who have had the privilege of being here in before. It’s an AWESOME MIRACLE to be a part of this MIRACLE in ACTION.
