Most of us got a good night’s sleep, after a rousing couple of games of Farkle to keep us awake till 10 pm. The day of demolition was a hard day of pulling up linoleum, parquet flooring or toting buckets of concrete debris to the window chute to the overflowing dumpster. Wood was stacked in a truck for recycling.
We were a little worried that the overflowing dumpsters would not be emptied by the time we started on Friday, but much to our pleasure the dumpsters were emptied by 8:30 am. The crew had a plethora of ceiling debris to haul to the dumpster as the two Slovaks had pulled down much of the plaster ceiling (along with a local reed that looked like bamboo for the plaster to stick to).
KJ spent much of the morning working with 7 high school students on interviews for the upcoming March fundraising effort at RLC to raise funds for a new physics lab…and let it be known that the space we are working in will be the physics lab/chemistry lab area.
The students were fun to work with, especially Barbara Sopoliga who someday wants to be a movie director or in theatre. What better student help could I have hoped for! (Thank you God!). Look for parts of this video in March at RLC.
We attended a couple of the student worship services mid-day, where Randi and I helped to introduce a new hymn to the students – Breathe on Me Breath of God. It was a joy to share our gift of music with the students.
Tonight was a much looked-forward-to night at the Turčianske Teplice Spa, a series of natural hot spring water pools of varying temperatures, followed by a hamburger supper at Tomáš and Slavka Gulánová’s home in Mošovce along with sons Miško and Ondrej and dog Nutty. We did get to see the full moon rising over the mountains in the east with a gorgeous sunset in the west. Otherwise it was a ride in the dark.
Tomorrow there will be parents, students and staff of the CCE coming to help in the morning at the new high school with the demolition. It will be interesting to see how they will be directed and what they can do. It’s more relationship building than demolition of a physical space. The afternoon will be ours to spend with Eva Janotová as our guide… perhaps at the outdoor museum for the afternoon.
God continues to keep us relatively safe… just a couple more blisters, and a close-call of nail through the sole of a shoe…but just the side of the sole and not through the bottom of the sole where it would have hit a foot … God was looking out for Julie today!
Your prayers of support are being felt and answered. Please don’t stop! Peace and JOY ABOUND
