Food has always brought people together. Throughout the Gospels in the Bible, we see Jesus using food to unite people.

• When He wanted to get through to Zacchaeus, He went to his house for a meal.
• When He wanted to explain what the kingdom of God is like, He did it through a shared meal and encouraged us to carry on that practice.

Jesus started a tradition that used meals to signify certain things. The Jewish adopted this and celebrated feasts such as Passover, Pentecost, Yom Kippur and Tabernacles and passed on the wisdom to the next generation.

The same is true for different cultures across the world. Food acts as a central point where people gather around. It serves as a place where stories are told and wisdom passed down to generations.

Did you know that communal eating increases social bonding and feelings of wellbeing, and enhances one’s sense of contentedness and embedding within the community.

Join us in January 2023!

The Month of January you will be able to sign up and join members of our congregation for a meal. You will have a list of days, times and restaurants to choose from. It may be a breakfast, lunch or dinner. It may be a gathering for appetizers or brunch. You get to choose! We will have RLC hosts that will meet you at a restaurant and dine with you. In your confirmation email you will find out who your hosts are!
