Stories

Amazed and Challenged

Posted by Sara Spohr on

During the first two weeks of February I traveled with 6 other pastors from the St. Paul Area Synod to Iringa, Tanzania. We had an opportunity to spend a full weekend in the Ng’ang’ge village where Roseville Lutheran has a companion relationship with the Lutheran Church there. On Sunday we worshipped with the people of the Ng’ang’ge parish, singing, dancing, praying, and celebrating the God who brings brothers and sisters together from across the globe. I presented the Ng’ang’ge leaders with a replica of our 75th anniversary painting, and I talked about this stream of living water that we are all given to drink from. It was a beautiful celebration.

If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
Rivers of living water will brim and spill out
of the depths of anyone who believes...
(John 4:37 MSG)

I have come away from this trip amazed and challenged.  Amazed by God at work in the church in all places. Challenged to find new ways for Roseville Lutheran to participate more fully in the partnership we share with our brothers and sisters in Iringa Tanzania. I have many stories to share and I am eager to see how God will lead us into deeper relationship.

Mungu akubariki (God bless you),
