We were treated to a little something different at Roseville Lutheran Church last weekend: a slew of traditional Balkan dancing, music and food from our friends at the Balkanicus Institute for Balkan Art Culture and History.

Hundreds of folks gathered Friday and Saturday to both learn how to dance and also watch some skilled footwork, complete with traditional garb and musical accompaniment.

Saturday was capped off with a performance by the Chicago-based Balkan Rhythms Orchestra and an open dance floor where anyone could get up and join in the fun.

It was a great event, a time to learn more about our neighbors and experience their rich culture. Thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend a success!
