"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." ~ 1 Peter 4:10-11

When I was a kid I spent many hours in my father’s garage and workshop, building go carts, boats, airplanes, musical instruments and then rebuilding cars in my wild teen years. I was always interested building and fixing things, creating and improving things, and figuring out how they work. Early on I learned that even though I built something that looked like a trombone or an airplane, there was often more to it than external appearance. When I was young my mother used to use a copper cleaning compound called twinkle. When she wasn’t around I would gather my pennies and shine them up with this stuff. I have always found great satisfaction in taking something old and making it new again, making it shine. I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend most of my working life in occupations that allowed me to develop and expand the gifts that God has given me. I was able to create new things, participate in problem solving, explore new possibilities, and improve environments for others.

Now I have been given the opportunity to serve nearly five years at RLC. My goal in directing the facilities ministry is to create a user friendly environment here that is clean, safe, secure, and beautiful. I look to bring new inspiration to long time members, and to embrace new visitors by maintaining and renewing the environment here. I look to create an environment that uplifts and is in step with the times. Although I may not know everyone here, it has been real a pleasure to get to know and work with many of you. Our facility staffs, the Tuesday morning facilities volunteers, the site beautification committee, the design, continuity and beautification committee and many others, have all been great in helping to create an environment that supports the ministries of RLC and of course glorifies God and Jesus Christ. While we have worked together on many projects, I think we have all realized that God has already blessed us for our service by providing us with the company of true friends.
